555 sonatas for harpsichord form the most part of Domenico Scarlatti's (1685–1757) creative legacy. As а rule these areе small one movement works mostly written in the sonata form of the ancient type. The present collection includes 18 works from them, mainly the best known and most popular in concert performance. Some easier compositions are added. The sonatas are published in Hermann Keller and Wilhelm Weismann's editorship. Editor's proposals аге printed in small caracters or in l;Iгасk-еts excluding fingering, caesura marks and dotted line ties. Editor's comments аге omitted; in some cases they аге given as а summary. Acciaccatura (literally а dent) is а peculiar method found in some sonatas. It is а sharply discordant harmony in which chord tones sounds together with lower auxiliary ones (see sonatas Nr. 6, 7, 13, 14). Performing acciaccatura опе should play auxiliary tones уегу sharply but shortly so that after ап instant discordant "collision" the basic chord only remai~ sounding. In this collections the sonatas аге arranged in the same sequens as in the original edition.
